External effective dose from natural radiation for the Umbria region (Italy)

This study presents the map of external effective annual dose rate (1:200,000 scale) due to terrestrial and cosmic radiation. The is assessed via gamma ray spectroscopy combining radiometric data from airborne surveys laboratory measurements. geostatistical method Collocated CoKriging used for spatial interpolation sparse data, adopting a high-resolution geological as ancillary information. obtained numerical integrated with radiation calculated using CARI-7 software tool that considers effects altitude, latitude, solar magnetic activity cycle. absorbed radioactivity main lithological groups studied and, most populated municipalities, population-weighted average also calculated. For future generations, this will be reference evaluating radiological in case accidental events like radioactive fallout or environmental contaminations.
